Three Chadian Women Take Top Diplomatic Roles, Boosting Chad’s Global Presence

Background:

President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno on Monday met with three prominent Chadian figures recently appointed to senior diplomatic positions, in the presence of Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdoulaye Sabre Fadoul.

The appointments recognize the extensive experience and professional achievements of the three women: Mariam Mahamat Nour, Amina Priscille Longoh, and Mariam Ali Moussa.

Mariam Mahamat Nour, former Minister and Secretary-General of the Government, was elected Vice-President of the Commission of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) during a summit held by videoconference in January 2026.

Amina Priscille Longoh, who previously served as Minister of Women and Early Childhood Protection, was appointed in July 2025 as Special Adviser and Personal Representative of the Head of State.

Mariam Ali Moussa, former Chadian ambassador to Germany and later posted in Austria, was appointed Chadian ambassador to Belgium and to the European Union in January 2026.

The three diplomats thanked President Déby for trusting them and got his guidance before leaving for their new roles.

President Déby said it is important to serve Chad with dedication and professionalism, especially during challenging times. These appointments show Chad supports women leaders and is active in world affairs.
